Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to empower members of Berean Missionary Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York to participate in ministry to effect social change. The hypothesis was that through preaching people can become empowered to participate in social change. A focus group was formed within the congregation using a pretest and a posttest to test the validity of the hypothesis. The results of the model revealed that preaching did empower people to become involved in social ministry. The outcome of this model was the implementation of a social services ministry with an employment counseling component.
