Abstract
  • This project presents the methodology and rationale for transforming a traditional worship service to a contemporary celebration at the Evergreen Baptist Church. The importance of Old and New Testament settings, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in the cultural history of the Black Church, are examined in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 surveys the components that define a contemporary celebration in the Black Church. Chapter 4 examines the approach taken at the Evergreen Baptist Church and presents concepts of worship transformation. Chapter 5 surveys the results of the project and presents a concise evaluation of its goals.
