- Abstract
- Persons with alzheimer's and related disorders suffer not only from the debilitating aspects of the disease, but also increased social isolation, often including separation from, and neglect by, their faith community. This project considers the spiritual needs unique to persons with alzheimer's, and how faith communities can respond to those needs. A framework of pastoral ministry outlined by Eugene Peterson is used to examine the ministries of three professionals working with persons with alzheimer's. This research supports the hypothesis that with clinical information and simple adaptation, five traditional pastoral tools can be used effectively in making spiritual connection with persons with alzheimer's.
