Abstract
  • Effective African-American new church development (NCD) has been almost impossible for the United Methodist Church (UMC). This project presents a model that engages in strategic planning and implementation of an Afrocentric NCD from a holistic standpoint. The planning for an Afrocentric NCD provides for a new paradigm for the North Georgia Conference (NGC). The biblical foundations seminal to such an NCD and the theological contours of mission Dei serve as a framework. The context within the UMC and a specific geographical area are explored and developed. Thus, its effectiveness is dependent upon the whole Gospel for the whole person.
