Abstract
  • This project is about the emotional and practical problems inherent in a minister moving from one parish to another within the Free Church tradition. Transitions are recurrent events in human life, and difficult for most people whenever they appear. For a minister leaving a church is a special form of this common experience. This report examines some of the literature regarding transitions and leavetakings, records the observations of clergy, laypeople, and denominational officials, and reports representative excerpts from the journals of a ministerial couple as they moved through the process of leaving one parish for another.
