- Abstract
- Mergers are becoming commonplace in corporate profit America. Many nonprofit organizations are continuing this trend in an attempt to address financial needs, explore new opportunities and consolidate service in overlapping markets. This project examines the initial steps of the merger process of two United Methodist Churches within the Western North Carolina Conference. The purpose of this paper is to travel along with Christ Chapel and Ebenezer United Methodist Church and learn from their experiences during their merger to identify successful strategies for other maintenance/declining churches seeking renewal through unification.
