  • Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, Kansas, has 2100 members, thirty-three of whom have cancer. The cancer patients were visited and invited to be a part of a Christian support system, which shared God's love, giving courage to cope. Meetings were held for eight weeks with presentations on the following topics: organizing a support group, spiritual nurture, nutrition, spouse support, a positive attitude, fears, myths of cancer and feelings. These concerns led to open discussions and good exchange of personal struggles. Subsequently, the group decided to meet bi-monthly with one session led by a resource person and the other involving group sharing.
