Abstract
  • New Philadelphia AME Church, Carson, CA, has a youth membership comprising fifty percent of the congregation. The church implemented a leadership program to teach youth how to manage a media ministry. Youth were taught by multi-media specialists principles of pre-production, production, post-production, and promotion. Using a questionnaire for pre- and post-test, levels of self-esteem were measured. Results show that media ministry activities contribute to the maintenance of youth's positive self-esteem. Further results show support for the thesis that the youth of today can contribute greatly to the local church. Young people run cameras, sound equipment and platform for worship services.
