Abstract
  • As one of the primary respondents after a death, churches have a unique opportunity to provide direct care for bereaved children. By supporting grieving adults, churches can help children deal with grief in a manner which can alleviate further distress. The project evaluates the theological meaning of death and surveys psychological studies on the impact of death. It reviews the means of responding to grieving children. Special attention is focused on how churches can help through pastoral care by clergy and lay helpers, the funeral service, and Christian education. Included are several annotated bibliographies, plus practical appendicies which are useful to local churches.
