Abstract
  • This project deals with the use of local church history as a tool for ministry in all facets of church life. As pastors and lay leaders minister to church members and friends, the gifts of historical memory and tradition can serve as key resources in drawing closer together all who have adopted a particular congregation as their church home. Using a case study approach and drawing on biblical and historical themes, this project provides information about how to locate local church history and examples and illustrations for use in ministry. By tapping local church history, church leaders not only honor a congregation's unique story, but also share living traditions that continue to inform and empower its ministry.
