Abstract
  • This study proposes that uniting the African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion, and Christian Methodist Episcopal denominations requires an educational plan to advance readiness for union at the grassroots level. A lay and clergy pilot group of some fifteen persons (Methodists and others) prepared themselves for such union by concentrating on five areas of study: the nature of the church, evangelism, the place of women in the church, music, and the origins of the three black Methodist denominations. The result of implementing and documenting the educational plan thus described constitutes a manual for study at the grassroots level to advance the desired readiness for union.
