Abstract
  • This project was designed to train lay persons to function as leaders of a local congregation in transition. All persons currently holding leadership positions and persons who expressed interest in being trained as leaders were asked to participate. A six-week course was designed to give the participants a new vision of what church leadership can mean as well as develop a better understanding of the specific tasks of leaders. The program included didactic sessions, role play exercises, a field trip to Oklahoma City, and a planning retreat in Lamasas, Texas. Participants were evaluated in regard to improved attitudes and confidence levels upon completion of the program.
