Abstract
  • Many common life transitions and passages have been virtually ignored in the traditional liturigcal dramas of the church. As such, many meaningful rites of passage are not readily available to help individuals, families, and congregations negotiate developmental passages and life transitions, which are pregnant with potential for growth. We humans depend on religious rituals to help us cope with the existential mysteries. These sacred rituals help sustain us and give us tools to navigate difficult passages, while also planting seeds of hope and change. This project offers sample rite of passage experiences, within the context of congregational worship, that help give meaning and promote spiritual growth and transformation.
