Abstract
  • Minjung (people) theology, with focus upon the oppressed and disadvantaged, has emerged in Korea. It claims to derive from Christian roots, but it spreads unbiblical and biased interpretations of the gospel to the unprepared masses. This work attempts a detailed analysis of Minjung theology, showing it as an alien, mosaic product of modern liberal syncretic theologies despite its claims of being a Korean Christian theology. Examination from the viewpoint of evangelical theology reveals how seriously Minjung theologians depart from the teachings of the Scriptures. Alternatives are suggested for the Korean evangelical church that are both theologically sound and culturally relevant.
