Abstract
  • This thesis project evolved from research involving 1) the author's twenty-four year ministry among Melanesians; 2) responses to a comprehensive questionnaire from seventy-two Lutheran (ELC-PNG) pastors and workers from diverse backgrounds of culture, education, and living situations. They provided data which proved this hypothesis: given the opportunity, ELC-PNG ministers and administrators can realistically reflect their socio-religious situations, accurately describe their needs in ministry and thereby develop continuing education programs to meet those needs. This thesis reveals relevant data about Melanesians and their culture and provides proposals for the continuing education programs for ELC-PNG ministers and administrators.
