- Abstract
- A renaissance of interest in the relationship between church and state has developed in the United States sd congregations seek to resolve internal disputes and governance. This model in ministry uses a dual focus to explore this issue. The case-study mode is used to examine typical internal church dispuites brought to court attention; seminars and questionnaires were conducted to ascertain pastors' level of legal acumen relevant to church operations. This project suggests the minimum level of legal knowledge needed to counter risks that impair the African-American Church's ability to advance an effective ministry in the community.
