Abstract
  • This project proposes an alternative Christian educational approach to help African American Christians grow in faith through Thomas H Groome's 'Way of Shared Praxis,' informed by insights from James W Fowler's faith development theory. Over a six-week period the project guides a small group of 10 adults from Lumberton, North Carolina, in a process of group dialogue that moves them to reflect on adolescent experiences and Christian faith. In learning to articulate their stories as testimonies of God, members of the group grow in faith and express a desire to repeat the process.
