  • This study was intended to answer the question of what makes a church either more or less university-oriented, both in its vision and its effectiveness. A university-oriented church is an intergenerational congregation that chooses to be close to a major college or university community, including physically, socially, culturally, and spiritually, and actively engages that community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The author completed a series of interviews with leaders of churches around the United States that are focused on secular university communities. These churches were formed with this vision and made repeated choices to keep that vision central.
