Abstract
  • The author asked, 'When a deacon preaches, is he doing the same thing as a priest?' Answering 'Yes,' the second question was asked, 'When a deacon preaches, should he sound the same as a priest?' The answer was, 'No.' Finally, having shown through argument that there is a specific diaconal voice different from that of a priest, the question was asked, 'How is the diaconal voice taught?' The author designed, implemented, and tested a method of teaching the diaconal voice in the first semester of a deacon formation program. The process and results were outlined.
