- Abstract
- This project was designed to demonstrate how the adaptation of the Deming Total Quality Management principles can enhance leadership capabilities within a ministry setting. A cross-section of leaders from the New Mount Olive Baptist Church served as participants in a case study. An analysis of the leadership styles and the organizational culture within the New Mount Olive Baptist Church was performed through the administering of questionnaires, a professionally designed Leadership Inventory, and a Congregational Systems Study. Findings suggest that existing ministry leaders were unclear about role expectations and lacked effective training. Additionally, emerging leaders were not being identified and engaged in ministry. The project demonstrated that the development of a comprehensive training module designed to teach quality and excellence would better identify, train and develop ministry leaders. Further, the implementation of a Leadership Development Council to set standards and oversee the process would yield positive results and ensure that integrity is maintained.
