- Abstract
- This study evaluated the effectiveness of two (2) pastoral groups designed to help support personal change in incarcerated offenders through a heightened awareness of self. The program utilized self disclosure and group discovery techniques to enhance positive self-concept perceptions. The study sought to bring to each participant's awareness that they possess powerful inner resources that can help them overcome personal impediments for a successful return to society. The key to their empowerment is the daily resolution of inner conflicts. The quantitative and phenomenological evaluation of the program revealed enhanced self-awareness of the participants.
