Abstract
  • The purpose of the project was the improvement of witnessing to Mormons by the members of First Southern Baptist Church, Pocatello, Idaho. By involving the members in a training program the project sought to achieve in participants: 1. awareness of personal attitudes toward Mormon people; 2. positive attitudinal change in attitudes toward Mormons; 3. greater knowledge of Mormon doctrine and biblical doctrine; and 4. an ability to personally witness to Mormons. Sedlacek's Situational Attitude Scale was altered and administered to both a project and a control group. The project group also took a pre-test and post-test on Mormon and biblical doctrine. The doctrine testing instrument indicated that the third objective was clearly reached. Reporting by the participants indicated that the fourth objective was reached. The instrument measuring attitudes did not indicate that the first and second objectives were achieved.
