Abstract
  • This project examined the theology and practice of a service of word and table in the light of the history of liturgy within the Holiness movement, John Wesley's understanding of the Lord's Supper, and the articles of faith of the Church of the Nazarene. Pastoral interviews and congregational focus groups supplied data about how this service functions within a particular local church setting in which multiple worship services are offered to congregations. The examination showed that the liturgical service is compatible with the Wesleyan Anglican roots of the Church of the Nazarene, but will not become a norm for the majority of the congregation.
