- Abstract
- The thesis of the project is that women's biblical stories have been lost to women and that deliberate efforts must be taken to recover this tradition so that women can grow into the maturity of faith available to them in Christ. Over a three year period efforts were made to explore biblical stories concerning women with a group of women in a small rural parish. Methods included Bible study, retreat days, Sunday preaching, and use of scripture in pastoral counseling. Periodic evaluation and shared reflections were used as indicators of growth. The research has demonstrated that when women are exposed to the stories of women in the scripture they often respond positively, feel affirmed and challenged, and can develop an ability to critique the tradition.
