Abstract
  • The dynamics of James W Fowler's theory of cognitive faith development can be applied to a group situation to help young adults who are at dis-ease when caught between the ought-to's of their Church and their own existential experiences. For seven weeks a group of nine young adults met with the author. A structured agenda included sessions on: Fowler's interview questions, Thomas Groome's shared Christian praxis, and Walter Wink's transforming Bible study. The project uses three evaluation instruments before and after the seven week period to measure positive and negative changes in the lives of the participants. The Faith Enrichment Lab helps young adults discover and claim their own faith stances.
