Abstract
  • This thesis-project explores formation into Redemptorist apostolic life. Making use of critical pedagogies and its constitutions and statutes, the author attends to the community's tradition, the lived experience of Redemptorists, and the U.S. cultural milieu. The author formulates a process of formation that reimagines an exclusive focus on the individual, positing one that is community centered and dialogic. He addresses three different formative moments for pastoral response; the novitiate, transition to ministry, and ongoing formation. He concludes that a wider circle of members must be included in the process of formation for the effective renewal of the apostolic life.
