- Abstract
- The dissertation-project was designed to help seminary students stretch and develop mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. The goal was to foster personal growth in seminarians as they prepared for pastoral ministry. In the project, the first division documents how this experiment in personal growth was carried out. Section A carefully outlines the methodology used and describes in detail the composition of the class of students. Section B reveals how tensions arose in the group which ultimately forced modifications to the course. Section C highlights the innovations used to foster further fellowship and growth. Section D explains and gives the results of the various testing used to discern growth in the students. These tests indicated clearly that the students did grow academically, professionally, and personally as a result of the project. Seven strategic appendices are also included: the course syllabus, the leadership manual on the pastoral epistles, the Bible study manual on the Gospel of Mark, the leader's manual for training leadership for small Bible study groups, pastoral notes, evaluation-testing sheets, and material on counseling.
