- Abstract
- The author of this project, a Roman Catholic priest, with the approval of the pastors of the Christian churches of Plainfield, Illinois, gathered lay persons to form a Lay Ecumenical Commission in the township of Plainfield. The author led this group through prayer, study, and dialogue to an articulation of the Commission's objectives and the implementation of those objectives in ecumenical activity. The written project cites some scriptural bases for unity and quotes the calls to ecumenism made by many Christian churches. The paper could serve as a manual for establishing a Lay Ecumenical Commission in any locality.
