Abstract
  • This paper attempts to deal with the causes, problems and effects of inner city areas and churches. Two churches are the focal points: North Presbyterian Church of Lansing, Michigan and the Sunnyslope Presbyterian Church of Phoenix, Arizona. Contributing factors to the phenomenon of the inner city church are psychological, sociological, political and economic. In conjunction with references to literature and personal observation, there is a model for church judicatories in their work with inner city churches. My conclusion and prognosis are not of a great, hopeful nature rearding attitudes of the church toward the inner city mission. Despite these realities, there are elements of hope.
