Abstract
  • This project proposes to determine modifications needed to achieve greater racial sensitivity in pastoral care ministries of Fairhaven Church (Dayton, Ohio), a predominantly white congregation. In this effort a small group from Fairhaven meets six times with a group from an African American congregation to identify racial eight concerns in pastoral care: evangelism, substance abuse and addiction, discipleship, psychological needs, youth at risk, parenting, prisoners, and racial tension. These concerns are applied to changes to the congregation's pastoral care plan for a significant increase in racial sensitivity.
