Abstract
  • The author, through statements from national and local statistics, witnesses from the Hispanic community, and demonstration of ministry, personal and otherwise, elucidates the necessity for the church to be involved in the Hispanic community. He emphasizes that the recognition and acceptance of the languages and cultures are absolutely essential to any attempt toward evangelization. The author reports the positive evaluation of this project through the use of interviews, and church-based ministry, drawing on the National Plan for Hispanic Ministries of the United Methodist Church. He incorporates both academic and applied knowledge gained from his own research, and the National Plan. The author also incorporates his own experience gained while working in close alliance with the Hispanic community for the past thirteen years. He offers insights and suggestions for a workable approach to ministry among Hispanics in our midst.
