Abstract
  • The presence of laughter enlivens a Christian congregation, mitigates anxiety, welcomes the truth, and counters two millennia of seriousness that hampers the flow of God's grace. This final paper explores laughter as a way of seeing, comedy as a method of telling the truth, and salvation through a sense of humor. God instills human beings with laughter, gives a sense of humor for salvation, and gifts believers with Easter laughter. Through a summer book club, four-week adult education class, storytelling, retreat, improvisation classes, and the study of comedy in preaching, members embraced these ideas and are laughing again.
