Abstract
  • A study of a partnership between a North American Mainline congregation and the Mayab Presbytery in Yucatan, Mexico, explains the spiritual benefits that American Presbyterians receive when they travel outside their cultural boundaries. Spiritual renewal from short-term mission trips are a valuable part of the mutual exchange that occurs in missions today. The thesis is that short-term missions can challenge a person's worldview, increase prayer life, and provide an overall commitment to the Great Commission. A study of the evidence demonstrates the effect short-term missions have on participants from North America, moving an entire congregation toward being a mission-focused church.
