Abstract
  • Preaching can facilitate and encourage a more affective spirituality on the part of the more intellectual listener in his or her life. The pulpit is one place where spiritual direction can take place. The field of homiletics is enriched by the practice and content of the field of spiritual direction. The author preached a ten part message series on 'Finding God,' which focused on helping people discover God in a variety of ways. The authors' interviews showed that preaching was a factor in assisting intellectual Christians in moving toward experiencing God in a more affective way.
