Abstract
  • Multiple empirical studies show that the greatest obstacles for pastors in maintaining a close personal walk with the Lord are busyness, lack of discipline, isolation, and struggle with sexual temptation. The research question is to determine the extent to which students who took the 'minister's spiritual life' course increased in spiritual maturity. Two instruments were developed to measure this: a qualitative focus group study and a quantitative survey. These examined whether the course: enabled them to recognize their hindrances, assisted in overcoming them, helped develop a plan to mature spiritually, and motivated them to implement their plan. Both research instruments confirmed all four of these hypotheses.
