Abstract
  • Grounded in Reformed theology this project proposes a program to develop effective spiritual friends among members of a congregation. As the priesthood of believers, spiritual friends encourage one another in spiritual growth, which is defined as the increase of each person's ability to consciously and deliberately cultivate a sense of God in her/his life and take responsibility for choices based on that experience of God. This program provides introductory training in : active listening skills; neurolinguistic modeling of responsive communications based on the language structure of the speaker; and in creating metaphors tailored for each individual to encourage spiritual growth.
