Abstract
  • This project researches the transitional experiences of Greek Orthodox priests between seminary and parish. The study, through the use of a variety of instruments, examines adjustments, critical incidents and surprises experienced by new pastors and how these affect their competency to be effective leaders. The study makes a number of suggestions to future graduates and to parishes, seminaries, judicatories (diocese and archdiocese) to assist them in making this adjustment and transition. The results of data and research point to continuing support and education beyond seminary and especially during the early years of ministry.
