- During the past ten years, the need for sports volunteers among Southern Baptist missionaries grew from fifty in 1993 to more than 2000 in the year 2002. The project leader will select members from within the staff of the International Sports Federation to form a research development team. The team will work together with the project leader to develop a training manual for sports mission team leaders. This project will include a seminar for potential sports mission team leaders, who will learn tactics and principles for recruiting volunteers to fill sports mission teams and raise the necessary funds. This project is an effort to assist in the continued increase of fully staffed and funded sports missions projects.
