Abstract
  • This project examines the renewal of homogeneous congregations into inclusive churches in center city, transitional, and pretransitional areas of North American cities. These pages describe renewal that is faithful to the biblical purpose of the church, making disciples of all peoples. This calls for the development of a truly inclusive congregation in which new people are touched (mission), incorporated (recruitment), and nurtured (small group life) until the gospel becomes a compelling reality in people's lives (spiritual development) and in their corporate life within their urban context (prophetic witness). This process is called the servant-witness model for renewal.
