Abstract
  • This report documents the theoretical foundation, design, and implementation of a six-session initiation experience for new church members at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. These sessions, focusing on membership as covenant faithfulness, enabled participants to experience the nature of church membership as a covenant that is to be faithfully lived. The report includes leader and participant guides, the theological and biblical rationale with the tradition of the United Methodist Church, and the covenant-relational educational paradigm used, an evaluation of results, and recommendations for implementation in other settings.
