Abstract
  • Pastoral counseling is one of the few therapeutic professions that does not possess a basic model of counseling which undergirds its strategy and theory; the author proposes the brief therapeutic model of counseling as the answer. This model can be adapted to pastoral counseling, giving a system and structure to the practice of therapy. After extensive research, he summarizes both unique and similar features of authorities who use this method of therapy with the goals of identifying and delineating the parameters of the brief therapy model and of explaining how this therapeutic mode can be used by the counseling pastor. Its procedural methods are related to types of cases or counselees most often encountered. The material presented will enable the reader to clarify and better appreciate the full value of brief therapy as a usable and beneficial model for pastoral counseling.
