Abstract

This project explores biblical, theological, historical, perspectives on leadership roles of women in African American churches, challenging negative views of women and their subordination and seeking to transform, reshape, and elevate women's self-esteem, values, and goals in the Christian community. In six Bible studies and six sermons the project demonstrates that discrimination based on sex has no place in the church. Women equipped with a new vision acquire the means to serve God, other ministers, the church, and the world.
