Abstract
  • Developed to break the silence on sexuality and spirituality at the Canaan Baptist Church, in Harlem, NY, this sexuality education program for African American adolescents links sexuality to spirituality. The small group model includes both a didactic and a creative writing component. The adolescents, in addition to being very expressive about sexuality, gained understanding about the Bible and about sexuality. Using creative writing in processing the information from the didactics, the teens developed a short play linking sexuality and spirituality for presentation to the congregation.
