Abstract
  • The thesis of this project is that an effective intervention process in parish council facilitates collaborative ministry. The project documented a nine-month intervention process specifically designed for one parish. As a result of the intervention, the council members grew in their understanding of the church's mission, the pastor acquired new ministerial skills, accountability was more evident, and the council and its commissions functioned more effectively. This study found that collaborative ministry requires commitment and patience. Some implications for the recruitment, training and assignment of ministers are identified. Further study is recommended.
