Abstract

This project involved creating and evaluating a manual to empower African-American clergy to do conflict management more effectively. Twelve experienced African-American clergy were selected to evaluate the manual using closed and open-ended questions. The manual was rated as most effective in helping clergy discern the leading of God in conflict situations. The manual also received high ratings in terms of its ability to help African-American clergy become more aware of how their values, beliefs, experiences, and history affect their ability to manage conflict. The manual was also rated very highly in terms of its ability to teach conflict management skills.
