- Abstract
- This project explores the experience of change in a middle-sized local congregation during a six-month experiment that separated the Sunday morning worship hour from the church school hour. Bringing to bear theories of organization, systems, and change, the project seeks a process of change that is faithful to Christian concepts of community and effective in moving a congregation through a significant transition. A biblical metaphor emerges: a journey from Egypt through Wilderness to Promised Land. Change in the church must be addressed as a spiritual issue in order for effective organizational change to occur.
