Abstract
  • The concept of stewardship is an enigma for many pastors and churches. It is commonly viewed as a necessary evil for the survival of the church. This project explores the role of the sermon in developing healthy stewardship awareness and practice by following the homiletical preparation of five pastors during the traditional fall stewardship campaign. Reactions of the congregations are recorded through case studies which come from a small sharing group within each church. The author concludes that the sermon is part of an intricate web of issues which impact stewardship practice in the local church.
