Abstract
  • This tested curriculum prepares never married, young adult evangelicals to advise peers. Based on Scripture, the thirteen lessons draw on cognitive and behavioral psychology, vocational literature, spouse selection research and the experience of marriage counselors. The class learns four remedies for irresponsibility: recognizing responsibility, prioritizing roles, controlling feelings and participating in a support group. Learners identify career myths and are trained to administer an early vocational guidance instrument. They master topics for advising a friend who has given up hope of finding a life partner: becoming available, becoming desirable, making the connection, raising standards and lowering expectations.
