Abstract
  • Many church growth theorists believe that social service is at best a subpriority of the church. Furthermore, social action is a sub-subpriority. This project contends that unless a church is indeed involved in these ministries and issues, it is falling short of its purpose and mission. It also demonstrates that as a congregation seeks precisely to identify and serve the particular needs of its surrounding community, it can experience both numerical and participatory growth.
