Abstract
  • The project goal was to increase effectiveness within a free church committee. The theories utilized were transported from action science, developed by Dr Chris Argyris and colleagues, into Christian theology. The process focused on action science's double loop learning. The components of the project structure--the committee, the pastor and the community of inquiry--engaged in this process. Information was gathered through audio tape, verbal feedback and written notes. The results confirmed the hypothesis. By changing the pastor's behavior, the pastor and committee were changed. The project demonstrated that these changes increased the effectiveness of the pastor and committee.
